HISTORY AND MISSION
On October 17, 2012, an ad hoc group of members of the community met at the Piedmont Club to discuss the shortage of field space in a town in which 36% of the population was under the age of 18 years old. The conversation quickly morphed into creating a foundation as a community organization.
The mission of the Darien Athletic Foundation (DAF) is to celebrate and support all youth and high school athletics of Darien. The DAF supports by endeavoring to ensure that the athletic infrastructure, broadly defined, of Darien is competitive and meeting the needs of our youth and high school athletes. DAF celebrates through its contribution to the community of photography and broadcasting. The continued excellence of the youth and high school sports programs is a benefit to Darien, bringing prestige to the town and joy to parents and their children. Athletics promotes a healthy life style, and, with sound leadership, camaraderie and character.
